Alison Gazzard is a researcher and lecturer in new media practice and theory. Her PhD thesis examines our understanding of mazes and paths in videogames through the experience of the player. It is available at the University of Hertfordshire research archive. She has a 1st class Honours in BA(Hons) Software Systems for the Arts & Media from the University of Hertfordshire, and an MA in 3D Computer Animation from the NCCA at Bournemouth University. Her research has been delivered at international level, most notably ISEA2008 & ISEA2009, and DiGRA2009..

She is currently employed as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in New Media at the University of Bedfordshire, UK.

Her current research interests include, paths, journeys and time in gamespaces, location-based media, augmented reality games, and understanding avatar:player relationships in virtual worlds.

She loves to play videogames, find glitches and track journeys using GPS. She is still trying to figure out how she feels about FourSquare.
